To complement the exhibition, On Vacation with Winslow Homer: Wood Engravings of an American Master, the Morris Museum is pleased to present a three-part lecture series.

 

Lecture 2: The Dry Wit & Quiet Ambiguity of Winslow Homer

Sunday, June 24 at 2 :00 PM

Winslow Homer was adept at depicting familiar aspects of American life with quiet ambiguity.  This lecture will examine how Homer depicted the enticing theme of courtship, the changing status of women, and the tension between traditional roles and the new choices facing women in the post-Civil War period.
